My name is Joey Winton and I am a 22 year-old from Omaha, NE. I graduated from Doane University in 2023 with a BFA in Graphic Design. I currently live in Nebraska City, NE working as a freelance designer.
I am well-acquainted with several programs in the Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, PremierePro, AfterEffects) and have experience in printing, branding, animation, digital illustration, photo and video editing, and a wide range of fine art skills as well.
I believe design is meant to bridge the gap between the worlds of fine art and the transfer of knowledge. Whether it be a political, environmental, scientific, social justice, etc. campaign, design is the key for getting the message / information out into the world. By nature, fine art is inherently murky in that each person who views a piece of fine art can have their own unique interpretation of it. Design is the exact opposite in that anyone who looks at it will come away with the same message regardless of background.
One of the most important aspects to me of design is empathy. If you cannot place yourself in the shoes of someone belonging to your intended audience, the end result will feel artificial and hollow. I approach a design by letting the research determine the color, type, layout, wording, visuals, etc. so that the end result feels genuine and purposeful.
